For those of you not from Central Ohio, and for those of you in Central Ohio that have been oblivious to nearly every storefront, poster, and local magazine/newspaper in the city, 2012 is Columbus’ 200th year. Yahoo! Tons of celebrations and events are happening all year to commemorate the occasion from giant birthday parties to bike tours to public art exhibits.

Coming up September 29-October 7 is a week dedicated to showcasing the awesome design scene Columbus has to offer. I have been working with a core group of about 10 designers as well as a number of fabulous collaborators to help make this event come to life. Links to official articles and websites describing the events and sponsors/affiliates will be at the end of the post, but first I want to highlight a couple of the great events we’ve been working on.

If Lucy had a say in this post, it wouldn’t be happening. She actually hates water. Being a terrier, she would rather dig in the dirt than dip one paw in the water. Regardless, here are three things that would be great for the water-loving dog.

Happy Monday! It’s a short week for me since we’re heading up to Canada midweek to spend time at my parent’s cottage on Lake Huron. Looking forward to spending days on the lake, sunset boat rides and campfires.

Stay tuned for another addition of Lucy Loves and some cool events I’ve been working on in Columbus!

Enjoy your day!

Blog Love: Street Art Utopia

August 1, 2012

Holy Cow it’s August 1st! Let’s ring in the new month with some cool public art because how awesome is yarn bombing and graffiti?? Public Art has interested me for a while now–in fact a large portion of my grad school thesis dealt with this type of design. I love how a small insertion into the public space can have such a large effect on the the occupants. The art has a dynamic presence as inhabitants interact with and change it over time…

Anyways…

I woke up this morning with an email from my former classmate (and good friend) sharing this fabulous blog called Street Art Utopia. It’s full of great examples of street art both by novices and internationally known artists. Check it out today and be amazed.

reminder: it’s a wonderful day

just breathesource

And it’s yet another Monday. The last one in July. I can’t believe how fast time is moving these days. Between what I have to do and what I want to do, I feel as though my mind hasn’t slowed down in months. I’m constantly starting new lists while attempting to cross off items on old ones; it can be (and has been) exhausting.

The serene image won’t really solve any problems, but it does help remind me that the world is so much bigger and more awesome than any task list I have, and I’ll get my stuff done…just probably not today.

In the meantime, remember to take some time out of the day, sit back and enjoy it.

You’d probably be expecting some calming song for the music choice, but that’s not how I roll. Bring on the happy music and have a wonderful day!
