how to edge paint business cards

During my business card research I was always drawn to the simple cards with that little unexpected pop of color. I also wanted to add a DIY element to my cards since that’s a big part of this blog, so I got the best of both worlds by edge painting the business cards myself. Continue Reading…

a weekend in nyc

Flatiron Building | Stuff Steph Does

I’m back! We had such a wonderful time in NYC, I’m ready to start planning our next trip! First and foremost Alt Summit was a blast. I had a great time and it was definitely inspiring and every detail was so well planned. Plus Martha Stewart made a cameo, so that’s pretty awesome, right?

We spent the rest of the weekend searching for cool architecture and checking out a couple art museums. If you don’t already, follow me on instagram @stuffstephdoes for more fun photos from the trip.

I’m still making my way through my stack of business cards and checking out all the ridiculously talented people I met at the conference.

That’s a picture of the cards at the event, not my personal collection. Can you spot mine? (Here’s a hint)

Hopefully more pictures will come on here soon, I still need to go through my camera photos. Hope you all had a lovely weekend at home or traveling. Happy Tuesday!

happy birthday, b!

Woo Hoo it’s B’s birthday today! Wasn’t he just a stinkin’ cute kid? I sure think so.

And how fun we get to celebrate his birthday and spend the longest day of the year in New York City!

Enjoy the first day of Summer, your weekend, and happy, happy Friday.

my business cards for alt

whoop! Alt Summit is today! Hopefully I’ll be handing a lot of these little guys out today, so I thought I’d share them with you all, too. Happy Thursday!

I remember when I first bought my ticket to Alt Summit / New York. My first thought was “Omigosh, I can’t believe I’m actually going!” My second was, “Now I really have to make business cards.”

I knew I needed to make them, but nothing really motivated me like this event did. I mean, have you seen the stuff that comes out of Alt? All those business cards are top notch. As soon as that ticket was purchased, I was researching and scoping out the coolest cards I could find to help me figure out what I wanted to do.

My ideas for the cards ran the gamut from sewing bits of things on each one to laser-cutting acrylic sheets. I even got a quote for getting them letter pressed. It actually took quite a bit of identity searching and brand development to really figure out what I wanted. How could these cards help tell someone what I want them to know about my little site over here?  Continue Reading…

Oh my gosh. It’s finally here! I’m headed to New York City this week for Alt (at the Martha Stewart Headquarters! ahh!) and then staying a bit longer for a fun weekend away with B. I have only been to New York one other time when I was 14 for a day of Christmas shopping with my mom and sister. And while that was totally awesome, I still feel like I haven’t actually been to the city before.

Other than Alt (and seeing this girl, this guy, and this guy) our only other plans are to see the city, eat good food, and relax for a few days. I’m so pumped.

Any good recs on where to go or eat? What is on your must-do list in NYC? Will I see you at Alt?
