weekend recap

This weekend, I:

  • waited in the parking lot with lucy after I locked my keys in my trunk.
  • spent the day at Ikea; it wasn’t as successful as I was hoping, but still a fun Saturday with B
  • got the rest of the frames I needed for my gallery wall (hopefully I can get that up soon!)
  • got a new blanket for Lucy. She approves.
  • spent time with friends
  • attempted, and failed, at making homemade gummies
  • ate too many pretzel chips (they are addicting!)
  • worked on this project
  • had an overall great holiday weekend

How was your weekend? Can you believe it’s September already?

I finally had a free Saturday afternoon this weekend and decided to spend it checking out a few of the many vintage stores Columbus has to offer. And before you start getting too excited, I didn’t buy anything. I felt like coming back with a substantial piece of furniture would have been too impulsive of a purchase, but if my sensibilities hadn’t got the best of me, I would have come home with a beautiful Paul McCobb Table and Chairs. It was gorgeous: loved the color of the wood, included leaves so it could be small to fit in our tiny kitchen, but could get bigger if we needed it to… Continue Reading…

confetti friday

Happy Friday!

I feel like everything I’m doing is just a work in progress right now, and not at a point that it’s even interesting to blog about yet, which has been leaving me rather silent over here lately. So while I’m still on this unplanned hiatus, here are a few fun links to get you through:

The Bullet Journal – An analog version of keeping track of your tasks
+ Have you seen the new Stockholm Collection from Ikea? I need to plan my next trip
+ Columbus Designers! Be a part of 2013 Design Weeks[s] by participating in the Vignette Competition
+ I’m really interested in typography and lettering these days. Here’s a great video of the History of Typography
+ And while we’re on the topic, this video is cool, too.

Enjoy your weekends and have a happy, happy friday.

I pin on Pinterest in spurts. I think I went a solid month without even getting on the site (although, I was pretty absent from a lot of social media stuff this past month) but now I’m starting to get back into it. After a quick pinning spree last night I saw that there was a definite theme going on with my pins.

Pink and orange it is for today!

how to avoid a gmail hack

Think about all the people you have emailed in the past 5 years. Old friends, professors, bosses, ex-boyfriends, that random kid you did a project with in a class, past students, people you were emailing as a “cold call” pleading them to hire you, yeah, everyone. Now, I dare you to just send all of them an email, en masse, (no bcc) with some crappy spam link to who knows where as the only thing in the body of the message.

Would you do it?

I did.

I’m a huge fan of Gmail. In fact I’m a fan of all things Google. I constantly rely on my google calendar, and I think I make at least one new Google Doc a day. B is aware of my affection for this web conglomerate (he feels the same way) and has warned me a few times that my password isn’t very strong and that I need a 2-step authentication for my Gmail login.

“A 2-step what? Why would anyone hack me? That’s crazy, I dont need to do that” Continue Reading…
