I felt like baking the other day, but didn’t feel like eating a bunch of cookies or muffins. So Lucy reaped the benefit of getting baked goods made just for her.
The recipe came from a dog cookbook made by the Three Dog Bakery. Even though I’ve had the book for a few years, I think this is only the second thing I’ve made from it. However after looking through it again, Lucy will probably be enjoying more delectable dishes because they really aren’t that hard to make and so many things are made with common ingredients.
Seeing as though they are made with all “human” ingredients, B and I were the first to try them when they came out of the oven. They aren’t that bad! The honey adds a light sweetness. Before you go making these for your next dinner party, be aware that they are made for dogs in mind and are very dry and bland. But boy Lucy sure loves them!*
Corn Crumpets (dog treats)
from the Three Dog Bakery
-2 1/2 C Cornmeal
-1 1/2 C White Flour
-2 tbs vegetable oil
-1 egg
-3/4 C honey
-1/2 tsp baking powder
-1 1/3 C water
Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients together. Spoon into lightly greased muffin pans 3/4 full.
Bake for 35 minutes, cool on a rack, and serve. Store in an airtight container.
Makes 24 Crumpets
*one note of caution: Lucy tried devouring these so quickly that she wouldn’t really chew them and almost started choking on it. When I give them to her, I break it up into “swallowable pieces” to avoid any catastrophes.
